Tracy Bond tells readers a story of a woman who decided to carry on an experiment and pretended being an old 80-year-old for one day. She put on makeup and clothes to hide her real age and went outside to see “how the world would react”.

The treatment she got was awful. She started a small-talk conversation, but it was clear that people didn’t want to talk to her. When she went to a music shop, everybody laughed at her tastes as “an old lady” and “brand-new hits” were opposites to them. The only person who talked to her without any blaming was a homeless man, because, as Tracy Bond emphasises, ”he too was invisible and unwanted by society”.

At the end of the story the heroine comes to a conclusion that elderly people aren’t treated in the society properly, and we all should change our attitude to them.
